We’re proud to announce a major milestone at WeatherOptics:
Our platform now tracks over 50,000 vehicles around the world.
This isn’t just a number—it’s a reflection of the trust our customers place in us to help them protect drivers, reduce weather-related risks, and keep operations running smoothly in any condition.
While WeatherOptics provides intelligence and risk insights across several key sectors– including third-party-logistics, shipping, retail, insurance, and emergency management– trucking has become one of our fastest-growing markets, and remains deeply embedded in our roots. Many of our earliest and most trusted partners come from the transportation industry, where real-time decision-making can make or break a day on the road.
From our first customer to thousands of fleets today, this milestone marks a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, what we’ve built, and where we’re headed.
From One Truck to Fifty Thousand
WeatherOptics began with a single customer and a big idea: what if weather data could actually help fleets operate better with actionable intelligence —not just watching the weather channel and knowing what’s happening outside, but deciding what to do about it?
That first customer, Blue Apron, partnered with us to create a custom road risk score for their deliveries. It didn’t take long to realize the opportunity was much larger: fleets across the transportation and logistics industry needed a better way to manage weather, reduce delays, and protect drivers in real time.
Fast forward six years, and WeatherOptics is now powering decisions for over 50,000 trucks nationwide.

Why Weather Intelligence Is No Longer Optional for Fleet Safety
Weather delays account for 1 in 4 trucking disruptions in the U.S., and each hour of delay costs carriers up to $100 or more. But more critically, severe weather is a leading cause of on-road accidents—some of which can result in losses well over $1 million. The industry as a whole sees 32.6 billion lost vehicle hours due to weather-related congestion which can cost up to $9 billion annually.
That’s where weather intelligence comes in.
The difference between a delay and a delivery—or between a near-miss and a serious accident—often comes down to timing, context, and confidence. Fleets need tools that help them act quickly, based on the best available data.
That’s what WeatherOptics was built for: transforming complex weather data into fast, actionable insight that can be directly applied to your operations.

The Largest Trucking & Logistics Companies Rely on WeatherOptics
Knight-Swift Transportation, one of the largest truckload carriers in North America, faced unusual weather patterns this past winter. With historic snowstorms hitting areas unaccustomed to winter weather, decision-making had to be faster and more precise than ever.
“WeatherOptics’ platform provided us with more precise insights, helping our drivers and leaders make informed decisions around route risks. WeatherOptics is a trusted partner and a valuable resource for our fleets.”
— David Tillman, SVP of Safety at Knight-Swift Transportation
Werner Enterprises, another one of the nations largest fleets, the value of accurate, route-specific data is clear:
“Our collaboration with WeatherOptics allows us to provide drivers with up-to-date, route-specific weather insights. Their data has enabled our drivers to anticipate and adapt to adverse conditions, enhancing safety and efficiency on the road.”
“Their flexibility, innovation and commitment to continuous improvement make them a valuable partner that contributes directly to safer operations across our fleet”
– Werner Enterprise Safety and Fleet Management Team
Pitney Bowes, a global logistics and e-commerce leader, used WeatherOptics to overhaul how they assess and respond to weather threats.
“Previously, assessing weather disruptions took hours or even days. Now, we can proactively plan and minimize delays with real-time risk data from WeatherOptics.”
“In one case, a route we initially canceled due to severe weather was able to proceed safely thanks to updated conditions and live insights. In another, we assessed localized impacts and continued operations where others paused. That flexibility means real savings—and safer employees.”
— Aaron Burr, Regional Transportation Manager at Pitney Bowes
Transystems, a regional fleet with safety embedded in its core values, found WeatherOptics essential to reducing losses and protecting both drivers and those they share the road with.
“We monitor hazardous conditions like icy roads or snowstorms in advance, which lets us adjust routes or schedules before it’s too late.
“WeatherOptics stands out because of its hyper-localized forecasts and its ability to deliver insights for our specific routes—like road risk indexing and time-window forecasts. It integrates directly into our systems, which makes it even more powerful.”
— Chris Tacke, VP of Safety and Health at Transystems
PGT Trucking, a trusted partner in freight transport, uses WeatherOptics to provide relevant, timely alerts to drivers entering dangerous conditions:
“Whenever a PGT driver is entering dangerous weather, an appropriate message reaches them. It encourages them to adjust their driving or even pull over if needed. That kind of communication saves lives.”
— Andrew Erin, VP of Safety and Training at PGT

What Makes WeatherOptics Different and Easy to Use
We’re not just delivering weather forecasts—we’re powering a smarter decision layer for fleets.
Here’s how:
Route-Level Risk Scores – Know which roads are dangerous before wheels hit pavement
Real-Time Alerts for Drivers – Automated messages based on actual conditions, not assumptions
Seamless System Integration – Our insights fit into the tools you already use
Forecasts by Location and Time Window – Plan by when and where your trucks will be, not just broad areas
Purpose-Built for Fleets – Every feature we build is designed with transportation in mind
And leveraging WeatherOptics couldn't be easier to integrate with.
We partner with the best ELD and freight tech providers in the space like Platform Science, Samsara, Geotab, Motive, and Trimble Maps, so that integrating critical weather insights and alerts is as simple as turning on a switch.
Weather doesn’t wait—and now, you don’t have to either.
What’s Next?
Reaching 50,000 trucks is just the beginning.
We’re continuing to grow– adding new datasets, enhancing automation, and deepening the accuracy of our predictive models. Our goal is to help fleets, supply chain companies, and organizations of all sizes make faster, smarter decisions that keep people and products safe.
Thank You
To every fleet that’s trusted us, shared feedback, or pushed us to keep innovating: thank you. This milestone is yours as much as it is ours.
We’re proud of what we’ve built—and even more excited for what’s ahead.
